Get ready for 540 minutes of explosive TV! However, while this is one of HBO's most successful series, it has certainly surpassed the expectations of this medium.
As hardcore fans of George R.R. Martin's books will espouse, the series is not following the chronology of its literary origin(!) - this 5th (and ever more popular) series digging into the narrative of the 3rd, 4th and 5th books.

The multi-threaded tale's many characters are kept busy in the non-stop clamouring for the Iron Throne, including: Tyrion Lannister is abducted and becomes Daenerys Targaryen's advisor - she is facing an insurgence in Meereen (the presence of her dragons becoming more prominent); Jon Snow is elected Lord Commander of the Night's Watch, facing growing mistrust (and mutiny) at The Wall, especially after forming an alliance with the Wildlings; Sansa has to marry the psychotic Ramsay Bolton (still tormenting Reek) to form an alliance between the Vale and the Boltons; the Baratheon forces march on Winterfell; the religious Sparrows sect instate drastic changes at King's Landing; Arya Stark trains with the Faceless Men at Braavos; all leading to a jaw-dropping closing.

The already established stellar cast is joined by more talented actors as this world of power struggles, family pride and treachery expands even more.

In a series where the viewer is constantly thrown into anger by annoyingly wicked characters getting away with murder, those people will be rewarded by a very satisfying case of comeuppance to close out this season (no spoilers), but as no-one is safe, some favourites will also be killed off leaving you reeling! (while leaving so many doors open as usual, and frustrated fans screaming for the next season to get released!).

The 5-disc collection's substantial bonus features include: A look at a day in the making of this epic series; 12 insightful audio commentaries by cast & crew (from David Beniott and D.B. Weiss to Peter Dinklage and Lena Heady); a two-part series looking at the historic inspirations for this world created by George R.R. Martin; Anatomy Of An Episode dissects the "Mother's Mercy" episode from script to final visual effects; The newly introduces cultures, societies and locations get looked at; 4 deleted scenes.
