Transcendence
TRANSCENDENCE

With Johnny Depp, Rebecca Hall, Paul Bettany, Morgan Freeman, Cillian Murphy, Kate Mara, Cole Hauser

Written by Jack Paglen
Directed by Wally Pfister

This Sci-Fi movie takes a look at the fusion of man and machine, its beneficial capabilities and inevitable disastrous effects. After a talented scientist dies (assassinated by a group opposing his scientific work), his wife and friend take his consciousness and integrate it into a super computer they’ve been developing.

But this new incarnation enables him to evolve, integrate and link to any computer system, and develops previously unheard of new powers, from controlling people like drones and
regeneration, to constructing whatever he needs with nano technology.
But the powers that be are not prepared to allow him to reach this god-like status, opposition turning violent, his self-presenvation set to meet them equally. But there is also conflict within those close to him.

As a whole this is an intereting movie, and while this is (still) far-fetched fantasy, some future possibilities are explored, and with it, the moral questions that go with it...
