DEAD SILENCE

With Ryan Kwanten, Donnie Wahlberg, Michael Fairman, Judith Roberts, Laura Regan, Amber Valletta

Directed by James Wan

The writer-director team who created the highly successful
Saw franchise decided to turn to a more traditional fright theme with this entertaining and creepy tale of a legendary ventriloquist 's revenge beyond the grave. A young man is drawn back to his now run down hometown when his wife is murdered in a bizarre fashion shortly after a ventriloquist dummy arrives at their door. He uncovers some dark and deadly secrets with his life hanging by a thread.
Creepy puppets have always been an effective scare device and it is done well here. It obviously flowed from the puppet used in
Saw. The movie has a great look and atmosphere.
DVD extras include alternate opening and closing scenes, making-of featurette and a look at one of the special FX sequences' development.
