PSYCHO

With Anthony Perkins, Janet Leigh, Vera Miles, John Gavin, Martin Balsam, John McIntire, Simon Oakland, Vaughn Taylor
Directed by Alfred Hitchcock

Joseph Stefano’s screenplay based on Robert Bloch’s novel was turned into an all-time classic by Hitchcock and is by far his best known film. A young woman makes an impulsive decision sending her on the run. In an unlucky twist of fate she ends up at a motel where its proprietor Norman Bates is a mentally unstable man dominated by his dead mother. Features the world’s best known shower murder scene and Bernard Hermann’s unforgettable soundtrack. Spawned several more bloody sequels in the ‘80s as well as a remake by Gus Van Sant in 1998 which many have demed an unnecessary exercise.
This special edition double disc DVD features extras like the American Film Institute’s salute to Alfred Hitchcock, a Masters Of Cinema episode on him, as well as trailers and production notes.
