It is difficult not to have Open Water conjured up in this survival thriller of man against nature.
An Australian yachting trip by a group of friends turn disastrous when they capsize in deep water. The decision to abandon ship and attempt to find land turns fatal when sharks appear.

The classic ocean-fear-device remains effective, but it is a case of the viewer imagining what they'd do in a situation like that (and as a result can have an effect on how they engage with the events unfolding on screen and whether they root for the characters or dismiss them for their stupid decisions or weakness of character).
