SAINT ANGE

With Virginie Ledoyen, Lou Doillon, Catrinoa MacColl, Dorina Lazar, Jerome Soufflet
Directed by Pascal Laugier

It is 1960 and Anna (a young woman concealing her pregnancy) is contracted to clean up an orphanage after it closes down in its isolated French Alps location. The only other inhabitants are an older orphan and a co-cleaner. Anna starts to encounter mysterious and creepy phenomena which escalate into a shocking climax. The European flavour of this effectively moody and spooky piece makes it far more engaging, and less of a predictable spectacle so prevalent in today’s ghost and horror movies.
